‘SOMMARSTÄLLET’ 83MIN

1.85:1 2K

Pundersons Gardens’ first fiction feature is a story of friendship and love gone wrong. Co-produced with Gothenburgs Shoot&Post and entirely shot in Sweden, it is also the feature debut from directors Johan von Reybekiel and Marcus Werner Hed.

On the last weekend of summer a group of friends have gathered to celebrate Carl’s birthday in his family’s summer house on the west coast of Sweden. Carl’s beautiful cousin Stina has just moved back from London to resettle in Sweden, and brings devoted British boyfriend Nick along for the festivities. Their relationship is fraying, and is exacerbated over the weekend by Nick’s inability to fit in or grasp the language and rituals of the group. Stina finds herself annoyed by Nick’s cloying vulnerability, and fascinated by her cocky, charismatic cousin. When Stina’s flirtations with Carl provoke Nick, the boozy party escalates into a blur of taboo-laden conflict and an explosive investigation of love and commitment.

NATHANIEL MELLORS OURHOUSE

HD 2.40:1

Ourhouse by artist Nathaniel Mellors is a  series of films portraying the Maddox-Wilson family, an eccentric grouping whose roles and relationships begin to shift after the arrival of ‘The Object’. Through consuming and excreting books, ‘The Object’ takes control of language within the family home. These themes are then played out in the ensuing episodes, products of the ingested, half-digested texts. The films where finished and graded in-house at Pundersons Gardens and went on to feature in a solo show at the ICA in London.

A Portait of Jacob

A PORTRAIT OF JACOB

HD 16:9

In 1970 at the age of 24, Jacob Holdt left for America with $40 in his pocket and not much else. He lived there for six years without any income whatsoever. Hitchhiking 161,265 km through 48 states and taking over 15,000 photographs on a cheap half frame camera, he bargained his way into President Nixon’s headquarters with as much ease as he became an inhabitant of some of the nation’s toughest ghettos. This film focuses on the stories and images Jacob has collected, in a measured and reflective wander through the fantastical tales of a man who allowed the world to accommodate him. The film premiered at The Photographers Gallery London in 2008 and has since been shown in festivals throughout Europe.
